An Expeditionary Fast Transport catamaran design capable of 43+ knots. The vessels can transport 600 tons of cargo and up to 312 fully equipped troops. Armament is minimal, consisting of four 50-caliber machine-guns. Flight I consists of 13 ships and 6 more are planned as Flight II expeditionary medical ships.
The class namesake USNS Spearhead (T-EPF-1) entered service in 2012 but as of 2020 is "Inactive."
