Armored personnel carrier introduced in 1973 as a replacement for the earlier Type 60. Mounting a 50-caliber main armament, it carries a crew of three plus up to nine infantrymen. Some 300 vehicles remain in service but have mostly been relegated to being used as artillery tractors and ammunition carriers.
